Good Guys Electronic Close out - Who scored?
« on: 19 Dec 2005, 05:44 am »
Ok the last few days had the Good Guys reducing their remaining inventory's to 90% off today as they closed the doors. Just wondering if anyone got some good deals, here's what I picked up:

Gallo Micros - $46
Gallo A'Diva - $48
Gallo Micro stands - $33
2 new Plasma stands - $1 each !!
Motorola Phone - $6

Some other misc. stuff. It was just fun seeing what they had and seeing the craziness, especially on the last day. Anyone score some major bargains?

If only I had known about it.
The Good Guys near my house closed its doors over two months ago.
I have auditioned speakers many times at Good Guys and I always come away not liking what I hear.  It doesn't seem to matter what the price is.  I don't know if it was the room, their power conditioning, their switching or what.  This only applies to home audio.  I liked the car audio rooms, at least, when you could get anything to work.  I always wanted to hear the Gallo Micros.  I went in one time to audition them, but they were unable to hook them correctly.  I forgot about them after that.  I suspect I would not have liked them inside a Good Guys either.  I swear the place was cursed with bad sound.  I would have loved to have picked up the A'Diva for $48 though.

I suck.  I can't believe I didn't go.

I agree GG seemed cursed with bad sound.  Take the Boston VR-M60's, a $1000pr mini speaker.  At GG they sounded just OK.  North a few miles at Magnolia those are my favorite commercialy made speakers in their price/size category, above average sounding & sweet looking in cherry.
