I have sent an inquiry to Pat Cosson, VP of Sales for Slim Devices to find out the best pricing on the remaining SB2 and the new SB3.

I am already aproved as a reseller for Slim Devices.

Depending on pricing and availability, I will offer to purchase a quantity of SB2 and or SB3 for the group. The money for the units would have to be paid up front. All the units will first have to be shipped to Colorado.

If you would like to get your unit modded, I will offer package pricing on the mods, power supply and whatever cables you might need to get your SB working in your system.

Please let me know if you might be interested in such a group buy.

I would suggest that we try to get as many SB2 as possible. I think it will be easier to mod than the SB3.

Other than the smaller case for the 3, what are the differences?

Already been asked and  answered in many other threads...  :o

From a technical and performance standpoint almost nothing.

The 3 has a linear power supply for the 3.3 volt line that supplies the DAC buffer chip and the digital section of the DAC chip. The 3 has the two antennas inside the case. The SB2 uses an internal switching supply for the 3.3 volt. I change it to a linear supply as part of the mods.

I heard back from SlimDevices. There is no discount available unless the purchase quantity reaches the 50 to 100 unit mark.

For anything less than that. It is cheaper to buy direct from SlimDevices.

There are a couple of purchase codes you can try to get a better deal. For the SB2: SB2Rocks might get you an additional $20.00 off. ThankYou will get you $20.00 off the SB3. If you buy 2) SB3 the price is discounted a total of $100.00.

If some of you folks are interested in a package price for the mods, please let me know.

You supply the SB2/3 or we do?

Thanks for clarifying

The price is for the mod, power supply and power cable, ONLY. There is no Squeezebox included. Shipping is extra.

You can contact SlimDevices through their website and have the product shipped direct to me.

This mod package is only for the SB2. Until I actually have a SB3 here to look at, I do not know what it will take to mod it to the same level as the SB2

I'd be interested in such an offer.  Is my reply here sufficient to indicate interest, or would you like me to make it "official" in some other manner such as an email or something?

Ok, I went and purchased two of the SB2s.  Because of the rave reviews given by people whose advice I'll take (zybar comes to mind, along with others), I figured I had to get some that were modifiable.  Now, I just need to save to get one of them modified (the other will go in my second system, which sadly I'm rebuilding).

For now, posting here is fine. If I get about half a dozen folks wanting the package I will put it up on the website for a limited time. The order for the package would have to be placed before a certain cut-off date.

If there is anyone out there willing to be a "beta-tester" I am willing to offer a good deal on a "prototype" mod for the SB3. You would have to buy one or two and have at least one of them sent to me for mods. It might take some time for the mod to be developed. You will get a VERY good price on the final mod.

Please contact me by e-mail for more details.

You will be VERY happy, Bob.

Now start ripping all your CDs to .flac files :D

You can also start saving up for a wi-fi PDA to run with Tel-Canto. You will never leave the couch again

Hi Wayne,

I currently have all my CDs on iTunes.  Do I have to re-rip them?  Darn!  I purchased the wired ones, as I want to put a network in my house.

That's not a problem Bob.  You can still do the whole WIFI PDA thing.  As long as you have a wireless router on your network.  The WIFI PDA simply tells slimserver what music to send to your Squeezebox.  It doesn't "talk" to the SB directly.

I think it [the SB2] will be easier to mod than the SB3.

Given that a brand new SB2 was already in my hands and that I had found what appears to be the last pair of Sonicap Platinums in stock in the whole USA at the present time, I couldn't stop swearing and ranting when I read the news about the SB3. I am relieved to hear it from the guru himself. :D

I also would be interested in your "full mod" SB2 group deal for $450, including the Nitro AC cord. Would this include any further tweaks from your RMAF set-up? And what would the cost be to add a WBT 75 ohm digital outlet a la Zybar?

Robert,

The package has not been formally offered yet. I have not received the required 6 folks interested, yet. When I do receive notice, I will add the package to the website. It will be only be offered for a very limited time.

The WBT NextGen gold plated copper digital output jack is standard on the full mod. The silver WBT NextGen connector would be a $25.00 upgrade charge.
