James,

I wouldn't worry too much about them coming loose from their solder.  I, too, prefer the spades for the speaker end and banana's for the amp end.  The only thing with the banana's for me is depending on how the cable lies they can move in and out of the binding post when you're getting everything set.  However, the bayonnets are adjustable width and will hold tight as long as you're not walking over the cable all the time or moving it around a lot.  If you are (and why would you be?) then just check to make sure they're in all the way once you're finished dicking around.

How are the banana plugs adjustable?  Do you just spread them open a little to make them tighter?  I have problems with my speaker cables coming out of the speaker binding posts.  I have the topline WBTs on my mono extremes now, so I don't have any issues with the cables coming loose on the amp end.

I've decided not to order the Premium speaker cables just yet. My Quatros are bi-wired and if I buy the Loreleis next year (maybe) I'll have to order non bi-wired Premiums at that time. However, one of the banana plugs did come off just yesterday which I was able to reattach without solder for now. Think I'll go with spades next time.

I have ordered Premium ICs though with extra casings. I may currently have RF interference from my cables which may be causing the pops and clicks mentioned in my other post, so I want the extra protection.

My two pair of 3' Quatro ICs are now for sale and Klaus said he would check them out if anyone wants to buy them.

Yup, that's how you can "adjust" them a bit.  Either open a touch or make them a bit smaller.

Bunky, dbjnh or byteme,

Did you upgrade your Premium ICs from the Quatros? If so, how much improvement did you notice?

i just came home and my 10' pair of TS premium speaker cables were sitting on my doorstep.  i hooked these babys up and just like with the TS premium ic cables it was an immediate bigtime improvement in sound quality over the Quatros. and even my ten year old daughter Courtney who loves both Klaus and our two channel rig and is allowed full use and access to said sound system says that she can tell the difference also. man if you guys could only hear how good my system sounds now! all i can think of to say right now is WOW !thank you once again Klaus. i guess now i can focus my attention on the MK II factory 24 bit upgrades to my Vibrato cd player.thanks....WCW III

The only quattro cables I've ever had were an 8' pair used to bi-wire my center channel.  I upgraded my IC's from various highly touted "bang for your buck" brands (Zcable, Zu, JPS, DH Labs, etc.) and have never considered another IC.

bunky, do you have pictures of the ts cables?
Klaus sent me some ts i/c raw cables, but they look exactly like the gronebergs, and to be honest, since I terminated the gronebergs myself and i terminated the ts too, they are really the same in everyway.  that's if klaus sent me the new ts premium last week.

Hey Sonny,i dont have a digital camera but pictures of the TS premiums are shown on the Groneberg website. the TS premiums have a medium metallic blue colored plastic sheath covering a spiral wound metal outer shell and are very substancial as far as construction goes and they also have TS premium printed on the outside of them as well. thanks....WCW III

I thought so, but Klaus told me that mine will not have the jacket (the blue metal like cover), however, I can tell you that on the cables itself it has a very very faded scripture of TS Premium...but as I mentioned to you in the previous, the wires, symetry and all is just like the groneberg quattros...

Well, maybe Groneberg pulled a good one on us in regards to dressing the cables...but having taken them apart and terminating them...I can tell you, they are the same...

i know that they both have a quad geometry but the wire does not have the same metalugical makeup and they surely dont even sound remotely close to each other, at least not with my particular gear in my system. thanks....WCW III
