Katrina Relief

In response to Hurricane Katrina we are raising money to help with disaster relief. Now is the time for people to respond to those in need. DIYCable has made immediate donations to the Red Cross to help. We will also be donating $2 from every sale for the next two months to the Red Cross disaster relief fund.

In addition, there are more than a half million displaced people in the Gulf coast area. If anyone knows of a small family or individual that is need of shelter we are willing to bus them to our home and shelter them until they are back on their feet. We urge others that are close to the effected area to open their homes to those in need.

People making donations should make sure to check with their employers about matching donations.

I just sold the test cabinets I have and plan on matching that and having my employer match the total. Every little bit helps.

If you're willing, take the $100 prize I won and donate that to the relief effort. I'll be donating other cash as well but every bit helps.

well I can personally tell you they will appreciate anything you can give at this time .. I live in Baton Rouge Louisiana about 40 min from New Orleans and most of the population from NO is here in baton rouge at the time. even though we have lots of places without power at the moment (just got mine turned back on this morning and we have 2 hour waits at the pump for gas) i've donated and will probably go help at a shelter this weekend

Your in our thoughts and prayers. I think everyone in the country is pulling for you guys. I hope it last because this is going to take years.

I've exercised some moderation to clean up this thread.

For the parties involved (me included) I'd just ask that we exercise our opinions elsewhere at the moment. The thread is about help and relief for those affected by the hurricane. We can have political/philosophical debates elsewhere and the topic is important enough that I want to keep the thread on topic.
