Sync link?
« on: 16 Aug 2005, 03:06 pm »
I have the TAG McLaren AV32DP processor with BRYSTON 7B SST amps for the fron two channels.

I noticve that the Brystons have an input to switch on the amps out of standby.

My TAG also has the same looking output (it's like a network connection).

Will the TAG unit be able to switch on my Brystons??

If it is a DC trigger (vs. perhaps the PHAST link) you should be able to get it work.  My SP1.7 connects to a 14BSST which connects to a 6BSST and then to my Rotel DVD-A player.  The Rotel has a mini-jack connection (vs. bare wire like the Brystons) and I just hooked the 6BSST to it using the proper connector.

Thanks - trouble is - I don't know exactly what the TAG sync link is giving out.

If it is a voltage more than 4 volts, it will of course be able to turn on the 7B SST through the input connector supplied.

Oh dear - how to find wht's happening! ! !

Hi Caleb,

Do you have a voltmeter or micrometer that you could use to test the output voltage?

This thread describes a different purpose for the sync link vs. a DC trigger:

Dear,

Tag's "sync link" is a voltage to control a VCXO in a Tag cd transport. Not wise to connect that to a DC trigger ;)

If you want to turn on bryston amplifier you can search inside the Tag for a constand DC voltage between 4 and 12 volt. Feed this to the amp and voila. Make sure the standby switch switch of this voltage to.

With kind regards,
Bas
