Cutting off the grill cloth won't make any difference on a sub (unless it's buzzing :o )

Not sure what you mean by the honeycomb wall...

What's wrong with the sound?

The sound is fine but I heard it make speakers sound better so the sup should sound better to right. The way the sub in built there is the grill cloth then behind that there Is a plastic wall with lots of holds in it that make it look a piece of honey cone and behine that is the woofer.I hope this helps

It seems that the honeycomb is some sort of grill to keep your kids' (or your brother's, neighbours', etc...) little fingers out.
The grill cloth is typically only there for aestethics. This could be a problem on higher frequencies. I personally prefer my speakers with the grills off but can't imagine that it would make a difference on a sub.

If you hear a "buzzing" I wouldn't go cutting holes in any honeycombs!  You might be sorry!
