JVC RX-D301/302 DVD-multi inputs

I was just looking over at the owner's manual to these receivers and I noticed no DSP or any other digital manipulations can be applied to the multi-channel analog inputs.  Does this mean that these inputs doesn't get digitalized?

I don't think they do.

Higher-end AVRs or pre/pros have a ADC stage there - that allows you to do bass management and other DSP manipulations on the analog inputs; most AVRs just pass the signal directly to the (analog) amplifier.

I believe in the case of digital amps, the analog audio signal is used directly to modulate the PWM carrier signal (which drives the output devices)

Yes.  That should be a good thing though, as you can have a direct analog signal be routed to the amp via the 5.1 input:  5.1 input-->AMP.  Connecting analog to any other input will cause the receiver to do: Analog-->ADC-->DSP-->DAC--AMP.  Hope this helps.

Thanks for the explaination, Feisal K and tschanrm.

I am interested in the JVC but now I am concerned about the heat issue.  I suppose that's another thread.
