Check my gallery and see what I use. If your decor supports the industrial look, and you are "ugly tolerant", you might wanna consider it.
Not exactly eye-candy, but I can tell you that when I moved my vinyl rig to this from its former location (a rigid and heavy DIY 5 shelf MDF stand), the sonic improvement was staggering. So much so that, despite the lack of visual appeal, I am unwilling to change. Aesthetics can easily be improved w a coat of black (or burgundy, or whatever) Rustoleum paint. Price for the whole thing was under $200 shipped.
I have read all the controversy about granite and ringing. I have yet to experience it. It has done nothing but good things to my system. Are there stands out there that will "sound better"? Probably. I don't spend an awful lot of time a/b'ing equipment stands. I do know that I don't hear any nasties, nor anything at all, that makes me think a change is needed.
Depending on your table, your needs may be different. Conventional wisdom holds that non-sprung tables (mine) need mass + rigidity, while sprung tables benefit best from something rigid but light.
Perhaps if you provide details of your setup, more useful input can be provided.
