So nobody's seen Cinderella Man???

Or at least I'm assuming that as there hasn't been a thread on it. I just saw it tonight, and it really is a tremendous movie IMO. It avoids most all the tired cliches these "underdog" films are usually full of, the screen play is solid (albeit a bit corny at times) and the cast is top-notch. Russell Crowe puts in a great performance and Paul Giamatti should at least get his supporting actor nomination, if not win the Oscar. Hell, Even Rene Zellweger is good in this one. It's a feel-good movie that really makes you feel good, evidenced by the fact that the crowd in the theater cheered for the boxer during the fight scenes almost like we were watching a live boxing match. This is definitely a movie to see in the theater, and for the life of me I can't figure out why more people aren't going to see it.

Yeah it's pretty good.  Giamatti is excellent as you mentioned.  He seems to have good chemistry with just about any male lead actor (that doesn't make him sound gay I hope).  I think the reason it's not playing well is mainly because it was released at the wrong time of the year and not marketed well.  Another problem is that it's not a 'womans film'.   I saw it with my parents and the best my mom could muster was that she was glad he didn't die at the end.  She couldn't really recommend it though.

I saw it several weeks ago and thought it was the best movie I had seen this year. I told all my friends about it and some of them didn't want to see it because it was "Just another boxing movie" Those that saw it thought the same about it as I do.

I'm very anxious to see it, but I had thought to wait for the DVD.  The "RobPlex" is a better place to see a movie!

Yo Bob Babcock!
Unless you have a home theater room as big as a regular movie house the best place to see a movie is at your local popcorn palor! Hey spend some of those bucks! Go out to the movies. Keep the economy strong!

Well, pallor apples to me- too much time inside in front of my HT!   Actually, I do like to see flicks in the theater, but mostly action flicks that benefit from the big screen.  My screen is 100", and of course the sound in my HT annihilates any commercial theater I've ever been in.

I'll be buying Cinderella Man as soon as it comes out.
