Hi Guys,
I have decided on a nomenclature for the GK-1 variants. My sincere thanks for all suggestions here, which have given a clear vision of where I'm headed. I particularly would like to thank Darl Singh, with whom I discussed this topic in depth just today.
Here it is:
GK-1B. This is entry level, with the B signifying 'bare'.
GK-1M. This is manual switching, with the M signifying 'manual'.
GK-1R. This is IR remote, with the R signifying 'remote'.
For both the M and R variants the moving magnet phono option is available, and adds a P to the designation. So a manual switch GK-1 with phono option would be GK-1MP; the remote would be GK-1RP.
The M variant and the P option are now available with all documentation complete, plenty now in stock. (Renzo, are you there??)
The R variant is quite close; starting on the documentation now. Prototype testing has been a runaway success.
I have amended the website to reflect this information.
I decided to go this way so that subsequent versions of the GK-1 can be identified with version numbers such as GK-1.1M, etc. This is a better, less ambiguous way of describing the evolution than using GK-1, GK-2, and GK-3, which is not quite accurate. I am resigned to the inevitable upgrade cycle, although for the life of me I can't think of a way to improve on it as it now stands.
Hope this clears up a difficult product identification.
Cheers,
Hugh
