Asked about this on the Brystom FB page but hopefully get a clearer answer here.
Have a late model B60R C coming from overseas so it's currently configured for 230V 50-60hz 300W.
Sent off an email off to Mike at Bryston on the cost of doing the conversion from 230 to 120 but in the intern curios if one could use a step up transformer?
Unlike a step down transformers it does seem counter intuitive to boost a a 120 outlet to 230 only to have the B60R on board power supply to then reduce it to a working voltage compatible for the proper function of the unit, the label has 50-60Hz so the Hertz should not be an issue but maybe someone else here has a similar experience.

Maybe after talking to Mike and getting a few instructions maybe it's something I can attempt myself but won't argue if sending it up is preferable. Hopefully find out sooner than later.

Although it might be "against the grain",  the most easy solution is a big 120V - > 240 V , 2000W transformer , inbetween your 120V home wall power socket  and the 240V mains plug of the B60R AMP e.g.

The cost of such a transformer  (US 60,00 ) would be much less than sending the AMP  to Canada (Mike Pickett), to convert it from European to US duty.

A competent technician could rewire the amp; It would ential:

- Changing the hook up of the 120V AC primaries of the 2 mains transformers from serial (240V AC) to parallel wiring ( 120V AC)
- Omitting the 240V DC removal circuit (D588, D589, D590, D591, C%92, C593 ) and
- Employing mains Fuses with higher Values (2A instead of 1.5A, 5A instead of 4A).

But unless, you find a qualified person in your neighborhood, to do this for you,
I would advise you to go for option #  1 : Buy a dedicated 240V - 120V 2000W preset transformer.

If you are not really qualified to do this revamp yourself, and you would make a mistake, you might hurt somebody or yourselves or damage your AMP.

It is not worth it , IMHO!

I'm in Toronto so mailing distance from Bryston, back in in the 80s they were in Rexdale and I could drive there in 20 minutes and the turn around for any repairs used to be a day or two, but times have changed.

I'll start with the transformer and see what Mike has to say about doing the conversion.

Who knows, maybe I'll end my twilight years in Europe and bring it with me.

- The Krieger step up transformer  is IMHO the better choice (higher safety factor against overloading/heat developemnt   and having all the USA and Canada certifications).
Also the very low (or absent) noise , (because it employs a toroid transformer)  is a definite Plus.

Judging from the schematic, it entails only the swapping  of some FastOn  plugs of a few wires, and the change out of some fuses to higher values.
IMHO Max 0.5 hour - 1 hour repair time for an experienced technician,which is already  familiar with ths Amp, such as Bryston Service Technicians.

A drive to the Bryston factory, dropping it off and collecting it a few hours later, woud be the nicest solution.
In the meantime you can have a coffee and a meal.

So let's indeed see, what Mike Pickett has to say:
Maybe he can plan your  "repair" job  in, into his busy schedule.
He is indeed a most helpful person and extremely knowledgeable.

Well today the drive to Bryston is much farther, when they were in Rexdal it was basically in town, then they moved to Peterborough, 140km, and now Dwight Ontario at.236km.

I've had a few B60R, the 1st was in pretty shoddy shape having been knocked around in a studio so I replaced the the original faceplate with the more current C dress panel and installed the the missing remote's optical sensor.

And I do have another B60R (SST) currently on hand so I could do a literal inspection of the 2 side by side.
Before doing anything I will hopefully first talk to Mike, who I must say has helped me on numerous occasions over the years  ,  .....and I've built and repaired a few items in my time so it just might be something I can conquer.

Also, if you have a 120V "example", it must be easier to to replicate the 120V AC Mains set up in your 240V sample.

I'm a tinkerer and once in a while wield the soldering iron but as a kid I had a penchant for taking things apart to see how they worked, so my Dad would constantly ask ..."don't fix anything if it's not broken". lol
While I have no qualms about opening and exploring the innards of a piece of equipment new or old, I'm not a trained electrician so when it comes to repair or modifying proceed with caution, don't just assume something and don't be afraid to ask questions of those with expertise and your input is very welcome.
