Coincident 300B Statement Line Stage Preamp
« on: 29 Aug 2025, 06:43 pm »
Does anyone have any experience with this preamp? I have a 101D version of their preamp and want to get the 300B version but it’s a you-buy-it-you-keep-it scenario with Coincident and the thing is $7k. So I’d prefer to hear what others have to say before taking the plunge. I’d appreciate anyone’s insight.

Thanks!

I think you may get a great preamp with an used Decware CSP3 and it use inexpensive tubes, just to mention one option.

Welcome to AudioCircle echochamberless

Personally if it's something I cannot listen to and take home for home demo, I would give it a miss. But that's just me, I do not buy anything that I cannot use at home with the rest of my kit first.

Anyway are you talking about this unit? https://www.enjoythemusic.com/superioraudio/equipment/0410/coincident_statement_line_stage.htm

It is not of your interest buy a highly expensive pre-amp that you can only use the 300B tube, also a expensive tube and with a limited 5-year warranty after the manufacture, not after the sale to you.

Instead you could consider an 6SN7 pre-amp where you can use a plethora of substitute tubes as 6SL7, VT231, CV1988, 1633, 5692, 6H8C, 6H9C. 6042, 6180, 6SN7W etc

Yup that’s the one.

FWIW I did a direct comparison with a Prima Luna Dialogue Prremium preamp and the Coincident 101D was far and away better. I feel it’s a reference product at a reasonable price for what it is. I mean, if weight is any measure, who’s selling a 2-box preamp weighing almost 80lbs for $7000.

Welcome echochamberless,
I'm sure you already know this but there is a reviewer named Arthur Salvatore who has a lot of experience with Coincident so you could possibly shoot him a message. I cant remember his website and be warned he is a bit of a pontif but he really likes Coincident so he has that going for him.

I have owned this linestage.Very impressive performance, superb fit and finish. The only downside is the dual volume controls which in my opinion are sub standard for a pre amp of this sophistication.

I didn’t know about him. I emailed him. He charges a fee to reply, which I’m willing to pay. If I hear back from him, I’ll post his response for the benefit of this community.

I don’t personally mind the dual volume pots on my 101D. In my view, the ridiculousness of it just adds character—like needing to warm up my Pass Xa30.8 for an hour before listening.

Have you owned the 300B version or the 101D? I take it the sound quality didn’t offset the volume control inconvenience sufficient enough to keep it?

Just because someone else likes it doesn’t mean you will. Only take the risk if losing $7,000 wouldn’t bother you should you end up not liking it and have to sell at a loss.
