Coincident 300B Statement Line Stage Preamp
« on: Yesterday at 06:43 pm »
Does anyone have any experience with this preamp? I have a 101D version of their preamp and want to get the 300B version but it’s a you-buy-it-you-keep-it scenario with Coincident and the thing is $7k. So I’d prefer to hear what others have to say before taking the plunge. I’d appreciate anyone’s insight.

Thanks!

I think you may get a great preamp with an used Decware CSP3 and it use inexpensive tubes, just to mention one option.

Welcome to AudioCircle echochamberless

Personally if it's something I cannot listen to and take home for home demo, I would give it a miss. But that's just me, I do not buy anything that I cannot use at home with the rest of my kit first.

Anyway are you talking about this unit? https://www.enjoythemusic.com/superioraudio/equipment/0410/coincident_statement_line_stage.htm

It is not of your interest buy a highly expensive pre-amp that you can only use the 300B tube, also a expensive tube and with a limited 5-year warranty after the manufacture, not after the sale to you.

Instead you could consider an 6SN7 pre-amp where you can use a plethora of substitute tubes as 6SL7, VT231, CV1988, 1633, 5692, 6H8C, 6H9C. 6042, 6180, 6SN7W etc

Yup that’s the one.

FWIW I did a direct comparison with a Prima Luna EVO300 preamp and the Coincident 101D was far and away better. I feel it’s a reference product at a reasonable price for what it is. I mean, if weight is any measure, who’s selling a 2-box preamp weighing almost 80lbs for $7000.

Welcome echochamberless,
I'm sure you already know this but there is a reviewer named Arthur Salvatore who has a lot of experience with Coincident so you could possibly shoot him a message. I cant remember his website and be warned he is a bit of a pontif but he really likes Coincident so he has that going for him.
