Dodd battery Preamp
« on: 27 May 2025, 11:10 pm »
By some stroke of luck i got hold of Dodd preamp/ buffer. Issue is the friend lost the remote and all the cables. I am trying to figure out how to get it working. I am planning to get

https://www.amazon.com/CTEK-40-206-5-0-12-Battery-Charger/dp/B00CD44RQO

for battery i am getting
https://www.amazon.com/Rechargeable-Emergency-Lighting-Security-Terminals/dp/B0180YUC00?th=1

I am still confused how will i connect the batter to the preamp , i know i need to buy some powercon connector

https://www.amazon.com/NEUTRIK-NAC3FXXA-W-L-POWERCON-Power-Locking/dp/B0CQ68NHGY

I am just confused how all this will come together. Like charger and split the cable etc. Any ideas or someone have anything lying around?

Must be noted that DC Voltage is polarized, you must connect the positive battery terminal to the input marked as positive on the equipment.

If connected in reverse, will occur damage to the pre-amp and the battery may heat up.

I would reach out to GR Research. I know that they have a good deal of experience with the Dodd products. I saw a video on youtube where Danny highlighted his Dodd components.

This is how it is hooked up.
On my Dodd preamp I now use a linear power supply. Good luck

This is one choice

The one I purchased was on Ali Express is no longer coming up, but  this one is similar 12v/2.5A, 30watts
I just found this on AliExpress: $98.35 | STUDER 900 R-Core Linear power supply For Preamplifier/DAC DC 5--24V (Optional)
https://a.aliexpress.com/_msD2GFV

You will still need fabricate the power cord from the linear power supply to the preamp. Good luck

Is there a switch to cut off the charger when using the preamp, or do you have to physically unplug the charger?
