Visually inspect if you see anything burnt, discolored, or crispy fried. Check fuse to see if that just gave a pop. Worst case I could imagine would be sending in for checkup and repair but that'll mean no streaming on your stereo for a bit...

As for the dog, definitely some intensive training is in his future. Lots of work for him to build that trust back up to roaming free in the house again, but it can be done. My wife and her friends are professional dog trainers and they see this quite a bit for marking things and even people in the house. Find yourself a good balanced dog trainer and put the work in.
