I've watched enough of Danny Richie's videos (GR Research) to know that speaker manufacturers build to a price point, especially with the internal parts that people don't usually see. Yeah, there was a speaker builder who designed that speaker, including the crossover parts, but I've seen how most of those measure when sent to Danny for a crossover upgrade (i.e. they usually measure like shyte).
My point being that I wouldn't hesitate to do the upgrade. I don't know the person doing the upgrade for you but if he comes recommended and you like him, I'd say go for it. Like someone else said, keep the original parts. Maybe he can make brand new boards for you and keep the original boards intact. I'd bet that you won't go back to them though.
