I would argue that the market for DIY is much smaller than that for plug and play. For evidence of this just look at the number of players in either segment of the market. I think the real challenge for GRR is marketing a finished product after successfully advocating DIY for all these years. Were it me, and my intentions were to expand market share, I'd look at launching a different brand or company altogether and not market it alongside the DIY products. They dilute each other.  As an example, think Toyota and Lexus.
The sad part is that the whole audio market is changing, and the "audio systems" of the past are no longer aspired to in the way they were 10 or 20 years ago. It seems to me that the market has become niches within a shrinking whole.

Personally, I would like to see it offered in kit form. To pay additional cost for someone else to build the speaker, that I'm perfectly capable of building, lets the wind out of my sails.  Plus, I'd rather add my own personal touch to the build as well. Peter you address some valid points.

On the other hand, the individuals who don't have fabricating skills, a turnkey finished set of speakers will meet your requirement, at a additional  cost. Since you'll have to pay for someone's time to build it for you. (Which is fair, needless to say)

From a marketing perspective, does offering both options (kit & finished) limit the sales of the finished product? Audio Note and Pass Labs use separate companies for kits and finished products. I suppose they do that because the markets are completely different.

Danny already said the speakers will only be available fully assembled, so if you want DIY on this one, I think you are out of luck.

Once we get a little bit closer to launch.
We're having the crossover boards designed & made now, cabinets are in production.

I think eta for launch is looking to be around April if all continues goes smoothly.

Will someone be building the speakers here or are they going to be manufactured and shipped to you guys.  Will people be able to request upgraded crossovers?

Cabinets will be shipped to us, but crossover assembly, final assembly & testing will all be done in the US.

There wont be any options for upgrades as we will already be using the best parts we can for the application, and there's not really any room inside the speaker for much else, the crossover takes up the entire bottom of the speaker.
That wont stop a customer from swapping out parts if they want to, but the space is quite tight.

Is there a minimum size room you'd recommend using these speakers in?  My room is roughly 11' x 11'.  Current speakers are sitting 4' out from back wall.  I just want to know whether these would be the right option for a smaller room, or should I look at something different.

The latest LGK's are supposed to be sent to me via air freight next week. That is the last piece in the puzzle. All else is in stock and ready to go.

We will start production of the Allie (stand mount model) and Maddie (the small floor standing model) at the same time.

I spent a few hours last night listening to Maddie dialed in with the servo subs. Man you guys are in for a treat.

Danny,

Will you be selling those LGK tweeters on their own?  I would like to replace a pair of fading Yamaha berylliums with the best option for rear firing tweeters for my 6ohm, 95db sensitive speakers.

Also, curious about the pricing and finishes of the Allie if you are ready to talk about that.

Thanks.....Pete

Technically, they have no tweeters. The LGK is a wideband driver that plays from 250 Hz to 20,000 Hz.
