Copper Ribbon Speaker Wire from AliExpress
« on: 12 Dec 2024, 09:08 pm »
Just shipped my first return to China. I wanted to evaluate a knock off of the Nordost Valhalla style cable. The wire was terminated with shrink wrap so I couldn't dissect it without damaging. Seemed well done from the outside. Appearance was as pictured. No complaints. Sound was a bit disappointing. What at first sounded like a wider soundstage revealed itself as a phase disorder. It got annoying. There seemed to be adequate clarity but the balance was U shaped with a decreased weight to vocals and especially the woody resonance of the cello. Overall a big step below my DIY Jon Risch speaker cables. They are going back.
Returns was easy. Answer a couple question and they send you a printable USPS prepaid label for the package.

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

Are all of these "flaws" subjective assessments or did you do a before and after frequency sweep to verify the changes?
