  • To whom more was given more will be required.

If I liked this kind of music mentioned, it would had saved me thousands of dollars, since to listen to these bands there are few requirements for a loudspeaker among which worth mentioning:
Big woofers
Hi power handling
8 ohms impedance
Hi quality drivers and cross-over parts not important.

To listen this kind of music I surely would buy a cheap pro-audio speaker with a 15'' woofer in a big Bass Reflex cabinet, without much definition or transparency to dont enhance the distortion guitars and screaming vocals, other option is a 2 x 12'' woofers + a horn for treble.

I disagree that high end speakers can’t be used for metal.  I once got to hear Tool on a pair of B&W 801s driven by Krell 600 watt amps and it was like being in the front row of a concert!  A little ear-bleedy but still a jaw-dropping performance.

.
You also need a "Loudness" button to get the proper "tone" we grew up with.

Did I hear someone say EQ?

Problem solved! Get the Shiit Loki Max. It even comes with a remote so you can adjust levels from the comfort of your chair.

I looked at that unit before... not for me.  The RME ADI-2 units are remarkable.  I first bought an RME ADI-2 DAC FS.  I liked it so much, I bought the one with all the bells and whistles, RME ADI-2/4 Pro SE.  Those RME units do PEQ in the digital domain, and the top 2 in the line can do digital output via AES / S/PDIF to a separate / favorite DAC of choice for D/A.  Its own D/A section is very, very good to drive an amp directly.  The volume control has variable gain to maximize S/N for better dynamics.  It's friggin' awesome.  The ADI-2 DAC FS is a no-brainer, especially for someone starting a system needing a DAC and preamp.  It's a "starter unit" that can easily be a "final solution" in a top shelf system.

RME has a user forum and the support is incredible.  Those guys are not screwing around, and chances are some of the music we're listening to was processed with their studio gear.

You might want to consider the Bully kit.

Corndog is right. The Bully will eat it up and ask for more.

Vince, you make valid points, however I modified a lot Prosound, guitar drums bass played since 1984 and that evolved into being audiophile myself.
I can tell you playing the instruments myself on cheap Prosound versus good quality there is a difference Imho, and the real musicians I played with, not me by no means, agreed and we tweaked away on their equipment together, the guys I knew were backing musicians mainly in studios, but a few played live few times nothing super famous but known bands.

I cut my teeth doing the music thing too. Played drums and bass, had a lot of pro gear. There are some top brands that sound good, but no where near yhe fidelity you get with a proper audiophile system. With the right system, your playback is basically transparent and uncolored. The sound is only as good as the source and the quality of the mix. What I enjoy wirh these rigs are instruments in themselves, and can be tuned accordingly.

I'm with corndog. I have the X-Statics with 2 REL subs and they rock with pretty much everything.
