Howdy Gang,

I don't know how I got to this post this morning, but I was surf'n the Gon'r and found this post. I really enjoyed it. Take a read if you have a few moments, like Sony Digital, Hate Sony Digital, like pomp, hate pomp, or are just bored.

I got a good chuckle out of it. But read it all the way through. There is a nice twist at the end..................................

Enjoy,

if yure not part of the solution, yure part of the problem.  no one w/any sense of decency & fair play should be posting there regularly, or reading those forums, imo.  personally, i wish there were another equally good place to sell equipment - i would like to be able to abstain from agon altogether.  i have used audioshopper.com & audioweb.com, but they're not as good.   :|

Doug,

Are you the morality police now? I post at A-goN often and I think I am definately part of the solution, yet you condem me!

What up with that?

AudiogoN gets many time more hits than this site. If someone there (especially an obvious newbee) ask a question, I'm going to try to help them if I have a potentail solution to offer. Does that make me indecent?

It's kind of pathetic that you think less of me because I like a particle audio web site that you don't like.

Enjoy,

BTW,

If you care to do some research, my user name is different on AudiogoN than on the other Audio sites. My user name there is "Reubent" which is my given first name and middle initial. Unfortunately, I can't change my user name on AudiogoN and maintain all of my hard earned feedback rating.

I don't dislike AudiogoN because they won't let me change my user name. I just deal with it. I do "sign" all of my post with "TIC".

Enjoy,

TIC

hi tom,

morality police?  i dunno, but i am sure it's clear to those that have followed my postings, that i *do* wear my conscience on my sleave...

you can certainly do as you wish, but - imo - the best solution will be for those educated about audio to boycott that forum so it withers away, unless/until its owners change their marketing-biased propoganda.  the fact is, that folk who may participate there - newbees especially - do not get the straight poop about stuff, if/when  a'gon feels it threatens their commercial interests.  a'gon doesn't care that audiophiles may be led down a wrong or dead-end path, as long as they part w/their money.

i will always encourage people to do what's best - imo - for audio over the long-term.  screwing audiophiles, newbees or otherwise, for financial gain of mfr's & commercial sellers, is *not* best for hi-end audio, imo.

ymmv,

doug s.

Doug,

I agree with you that you and anyone else must do the right thing, for them. I always give the straight scoop on AudiogoN. I seem to be able to do that without the strong arm of A-goN moderators declining my post. Maybe I'm a kinder, gentler poster than those who have complained.

I do agree that some valuable opinions will likely get declined because of the commercial aspect of the site. However, I do see an active Integrated amp manufacturer getting very positive and very negative comments there. I've also recently read and posted negative reviews of an extremely popular British Audio manufacturer.

The thing I think (generally) gets folks deleted at AudiogoN is the tone of their post, not necessarily to implications of there post.

So, I'll continue to post there and answer post when I have something valuable to add to a thread. I think it is a GREAT site and offers an extremely valuable service.

I do have an idea concerning you "lack of voice" on AudiogoN. Simply post the URL to a desenting opinion located on another site. Folks who want to read it can go to the other site.

Anyway, I've stated my opinion and now I'm gonna move on. Keep up the good fight!

Enjoy,

TIC

Maybe my opinion's in the minority, but I guess I see various hi-fi forums as having various strengths...

Actually, I've NEVER visited the "forum" or discussion section of AudioGON, I just enjoy it for the classifieds and occasionally show reports.

I don't think ANY other website can top AudioGON for great selection of used gear, including EBAY.

(I miss the little audio classified magazine through the "snail mail" called AudioMart, which was a little gem, but evidently defunct now)

But I like AudioCircle for the fellowship with my hi-fi peers. Again, I don't think AudioCircle can be beat for that.

Bottom line, at least the way I use them, AudioGON and AudioCircle are apples and oranges. Both are good in the diet, but they're different.

Jerry

For selling and buying gear.....theres no better place than A-gon.
As far as there moderating goes with name calling ect....there seems to be none....proving they only care about commercial accounts.

Bottom line... I posted there for years....but no more.
