PMC AB2 monitors

I rarely see AB2s in use, any reason? I am seriously considering the AB2s as an upgrade from my 3 day old previously enjoyed TB2s... anyone have any experience with these magnificent beasts?

The AB2 will be a significant upgrade!

The large Dynaudio driver wont be easy to drive though.

Yes, you'd want at least a 4B. I have the dynaudioacoustic BM15s passive monitors that I believe are the same driver compliment (same woofer, and similar <8 Ohm impedence). And, I first powered them with two channels of my 9B-ST. It wasn't untill I got a 4B-ST-Pro that they really came into their own. (But, I'm now enjoying a pair of DB1Ss much more--smoother bass extension, absolutely hooked on (quasi-)transmission line loading.)

I have bought a used pr of AB1s instead, anyone know how long PMC has been using Dynaudio drivers in the AB1, AB2 or even the OB1s.
I can't pinpoint the age of this pair until I see the serial #, and the dealer thinks 3 years old, I think older. I am hoping for the Dyn drivers.

HI,

The original AB1 used a Dyn tweeter and Dyn woofer - the next version used a Fifa tweeter and Dyn woofer.
I would say the AB1 was replaced with the AB2 about 5 years ago.

The AB1s are outstanding. I can not believe the sound of these coupled with my 3BST, and then fed with my AZ Hologram, absolutely amazing. I do not know the age of these, ser#002529 & 002530, the Dyn drivers are a dream come true.
