WTB/ISO Finger Lift for the SME Series IV -- Found!
« on: 18 Oct 2023, 05:20 pm »
I bought an SME Series IV but it didn't include the finger lift and two spacers/washers it came with.  Ifound a company in GB that makes a copy but they are charging over fifty bucks US plus VAT.  I'm looking for someone who might have a spare or knows of another source.

TIA
Jake

Hello and thanks for the link.  I did see those on eBay, I would prefer one in bare metal (silver) to match the tonearm but the main issue is they do not include the necessary spacers/washers the lie in recesses under the finger lift.  Also found a company in England that offers an exact replica but it's $50+.  I'm a cheap audiophile so I have been thinking about making one from bamboo.

I'm looking locally for the spacer/washers but the exact size is uncommon.  It appears a 2.5mm flat washer is it but I have to find some.  If I find the correct size then I might buy a black one and switch it with the silver one on my M2-9 arm.  I can't just steal the one off the M2-9 because once the Series IV is installed I want to sell the M2-9.

On a positive note I did hear back from the original seller and he is looking for the one that came with it.  The price on that one is just right!

The silver one from eBay will likely be the solution and yes a plastic washer would work as long as it fits in the recess.  Through scouring the web for washers and headshell/cartridge hardware I believe they are washers for a 2.5mm screw.  Of course neither of the sets I ordered on Amazon have that size so I'll go back to the local fastener stores.

Updates forthcoming.

So I bought the cheapos from an eBay Asian seller.  Will see what the quality is like when they get here.
