Bryston BP6 infra-red sensor
« on: 31 May 2023, 08:04 pm »
Hi,
Just bought a "Bar general" remote control programmed to work with a BP6. (https://www.remote-control-world.eu/remote-controls-custom-general-c-304/general-bar-black-simple-remote-control-p-3637)
Nothing happens at the preamp side when I press the buttons.
Is it possible that my preamp doesn´t have a working infra-red sensor as I bought it new without a remote?
Thanks for your input.

Hi again!
Trying to clarify my question, what I'd like to know is if when I bought a bp6 without a remote, the amp could be sold without IR sensor or with sensor but somehow not activated.

HI

Does it have a small glass eye on the front panel?  If not there is no remote capability.

I've been using those remotes on my B60 for several years now.  They work very well.

I remember having to change the internal dip switches on the B60 to make it work, but I can't find the details now, sorry.  I'm guessing the BP6 will be the same.

I found the thread...

but like James pointed out, you will need the remote sensor (glass eye) for it to work.

Thank you, GrooveControl.I'd never find that thread by myself. If my bp6 as a sensor I'll open it to try that later today.

Yes, that is the remote sensor next to the led.  Good luck.

Fantastic! It's working. Thank you very much.
This remotes do the job perfectly being simple as the original remote sold at the time.
