FOUND ON CRAIGSLIST Alpha L S $1,950

I have no knowledge of these or do I know the person offering the sale.

But man a short road trip away and no room in my house.

Also a friend  was looking at some past sale units and rear ports and mids appear different.

Any way just passing along.

I wonder what vintage these are - the bass drivers look different than any I've seen. The port arrangement in the back is different, too - not one port per bass driver.

Canadian dollars I assume - an even bigger deal for anyone in the US, if you can get them across the border without trouble.

I was just thinking exactly this. They look just like the AV123 LS-6’s I have except the drivers look radically different and there aren’t as many ports. If they are remotely close to LS-6 performance they are worth the money and then some.

There are a few threads on these here on AC, the Alphas appear to be the predecessors of the LS-6 and LS-9

The Alpha LS was the first line source kit that we offered. The four 3" flared ports on the back was standard.

They were great speakers.

How tall are the Alphas Danny? They look like close to 6'. They must weigh 100 lbs each as well, guess.

That is an awesome speaker at that price.

Yeah, they were about 6 feet tall and probably 150 plus pounds each.

I remember Gary Dodd telling me that slightly preferred the Alpha LS to the LS- 6 and LS-9.  That's quite a recommendation.   If they are on par with the LS-9, they are one heckuva speaker.
