So I'm burning in the new crossovers for my NX-Oticas, using various types of music during the day, and then pink noise at night.
One thing I noticed is that the bass on the NX-Oticas main towers always sounded a bit over damped ever since I got them.
From a burn in perspective, you want some tracks that will move the woofers around to get them fully compliant. I usually use some electronica or hip hop with high levels of bass. The problem with the NX-Oticas is that even after running these tracks for hours and hours and hours, the bass still sounded off.
Checking the woofers during the bass heavy tracks revealed that even with crazy bass track, they hardly moved. Wow. Impressive. It reminded me of something Danny said about the bass woofers "with 4 woofers per side, you distribute the bass load among them and as a result they hardly even move, not even during big bass passages".
So, I looked around a bit, tried a lot of different things and finally found a track that actually got the woofers to move sufficiently. Here it is:

The track that you want is this one:

Just put it on repeat for a several hours each day and you can really get the woofers going. BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU SET THE VOLUME TO MAKE SURE YOU DON'T HIT DRIVER EXCURSION LIMITS. Best approach is to start at low volume, run the track, make sure there's no problem, turn it up a bit more, run the track, make sure there's not problem, turn it up a bit more, etc... If you get to the driver's limits, you will hear it.
After doing this myself for the past week or so, I can say that the bass is quite a bit better, no longer 'constipated' sounding.
