I've introduced myself before, but I've been asked to do it again, and happy to do so. During the past few (covid) years I built a pair of NXOticas and a dual sub, added GRR's speaker cables, and upgraded most of my components. Now settled on a PSAudio CD Transport, PSAudio DAC, Dodd Audio Preamp, and trying a variety of Amps.
Next Project: my wife likes to listen to NPR while she is working/playing on her computer. She appreciates the great audio from our main system, but for good reasons she wants her own audio at her computer desk. Changing her mind is not an option. I support her and I want to provide the best I can. So I'd like some advice:
1) This will be a radio-source nearfield stereo system, so there is no need to deliver high fidelity above that limit, and no need for any alternative sources.
2) I have an existing Parasound T3 Receiver in excellent condition, leftover from the very old days. Is there anything better today? I need one station only--NPR on FM, but expect that any receiver will provide full FM bands. I’m willing to use the T3 as the source or to sell it; it’s current value is about $400.
3) I want to use a pair of Danny’s speakers—either the new LGKs or the XLS Encores--which ones for this use?
4) Add an excellent, small integrated amp in 10W-20W per channel range. I greatly prefer tube or hybrid, but hey, it’s only radio, something like Emotiva T1 might be OK. Any recommendations?
5) Any better ideas or recommendations? Thank you!
