BR-20 Display

Hello,

Is there a way to switch off the display altogether or a display sleep timer (display off) function? If not then maybe in the next software update? Thanks.

Hi Ash

I think the solution could be already in the main menu -
Menu - Global Settings - Display Brightness - 0-10 - 0 Should turn it off

You can reduce the brightness but I do not believe it will turn completely off.

If it's anything like the BDP, the display is powered by the same (separate) power supply that powers the device while in stand-by mode. I believe Chris told me this a few years ago so it is likely possible with the BR-20 too, if the software can be upgraded to accomodate such a feature.

FWIW.

BTW the BR-20 sounds absolutely superb. I doubt that having the ability to switch off the display will have any effect on the sound quality, I just prefer it off if possible. My BR-20 replaces a loaned (by the distributor) BDA-3.14 which I had for approximately 5 months and it  demolishes it in term of details. I'm not sure how this is possible because the DAC is supposed to be identical. Congrats on a wonderful product.

It was just a suggestion but I certainly agree about sound quality and if the DAC is the same than let’s put it down to the Pre Amp being so good.

Hi Folks,

Yes this is the first preamplifier we have designed with a fully balanced circuit from input to output. It is a much more expensive way to design but it does seem to provide dividends.

Also having the circuit paths of the Streamer/DAC and Discrete Preamplifier sections all integrated and designed to compliment each other seems to provide excellent performance.

They are Yamaha NS-5000 James. I also have a pair of the Model T's in the bedroom driven by the BP26 and 14B SST. Both amazing speakers.
