  • To whom more was given more will be required.

Hi,
Starting Block is really for people to introduce themselves. This question/thread is best posted in the GR Research Circle, so I'll move it there for you now.

I would contact Killian Smith. He's working on flatpacks for many of Danny's Kits, including the X-Statik.

You can message him at the email i this thread:

I have a similar question: Are any of the GR-Research speaker cabinet designs or CNC files published or available to buy for a price?
I ask because I am far away from the USA. If I would buy a flatpack and have it shipped to Bangkok I am sure that would cost a lot of money.
I imagine if I would be able do get the CNC files and I would ask someone local to produce the parts that would be a lot cheaper and faster.
I have to admit I have little idea about CNC routers. I guess these files can be used on different routers. But I am not sure.

Just to make it clear: My intention is not to take away business from anybody who spends the time to design and produce the flat packs. It's a question of the practicality of shipping them half around the earth. I also saw in one YouTube video that a guy received the flat packs with broken parts, probably because of bad handling from the shipping company. That must be major headache for everybody involved.

The cabinet plans for the X-Statiks are on Danny's website. Plans are available for all of his models except for open baffle models that have CNC cut waveguides. These are only available as flatpacks.

You can have someone local build the cabinets from the plans.

I don't see any plans for the NX-Studio and the description also doesn't mention any included flatpacks.
And for the NX-Otica the flatpacks are included in the price but not the shipping of those flatpacks (I understand that makes sense). The shipping will be a lot to the other side of the world plus the risk that the parts might brake. It would be good if it would be possible to cut the parts on a local CNC machine.

My NX-Studio kit came with a pair of precut baffles. I downloaded the plans for the rest of the cabinet. I'm not sure if baffles are still part of the kit or not, you'd have to ask Danny.

I think Killian has them programmed now. So we'll get them added to the website so that they can be ordered with the kit.
