On the fly VTA adjustment
«

I just ordered a modified micrometer made into an on the fly VTA adjuster for Jelco tonearms. Anyone familiar with these? Or with on the fly VTA adjustment in general?
I've been watching these for a while, and decided to lighten my wallet by $80.

Scott,
I'm running an AudioMods series six arm with the micrometer adjustment. Works very well. Being able to adjust on the fly takes some of the guess work out of it. Setting it where it sounds the best is what I do. I have checked VTA with a microscope and it is very close to 91/92 degrees. At least with the 2M Black.
I think you will find it worth while.
Bob.

Thanks, Bob. Just what I'd hoped to hear.

Was going to order one for my Sumiko MMT but realized it probably wouldn't fit under my dust cover. Please let us know what you think!

My tonearm does not have a micrometre style for VTA adjustment, but I can adjust it on the fly. My tonearm is the Dynavector DV 507MKII (you can see it in my avatar). I only use it when i am setting up a cartridge for the first time.

I have my SA-750E mounted to an Easy VTA like the one above. Works great and I use a USB microscope and protractor app for my MacBook to set the SRA to 90 degrees. I then calculate the change in vertical position of the tonearm tail to achieve the desired SRA. I'm can do this for multiple carts then make some notes and I can switch between carts and set my preferred SRA quickly. Works great.

Yep, I've seen the one you're using... it's more substantial than the one I have coming- specifically yours has it's own collar and mine doesn't.
It should arrive Monday, so I'll know what I've got soon.

My Kuzma arm is adj. on the fly. Not used really as proper VTA was set prior to use. Only use for 180 or 200 gram LPs as it is set for standard LPs. IMHO not really necessary but good to have.
