Sorry to be a pain, but any updates?  I know it's not mid month quite yet, but I've done the PR vitrifying and the tuning of my 40's is way out of whack now.  I don't want to re-tune until I get the new woofs, so you can see why I'm jonesing for the upgrade....

No woofers yet :(  Did you mean that the woofers would be here (at my house) on this past monday, or that they would be there (at VMPS) on monday?

Let us know how hard/easy they are to install and any caveats.

I'm sure the woofers will be a peace of cake.

It's the caps that might be a PITA.  I hope I don't have to take off the base and passive to fit my hands/solder iron in the cabinet to hook them up right.

Ah, the caps.  I forgot about those.  My soldering iron isn't the best -- It's one of those cheap 40W varieties that takes forever to heat up.  It should be interesting to open the inside of the RM40s and see what's in there.

I don't see how else you are going to be able to get at the passive network.

40w cheapo soldering iron is typically good enough for such types of network soldering, its circuit boards where they are a PITA to use.

You may be able to do everything through the bass woofer hole.  Here is a couple of pictures I took through the bass woofer hole.  The pictures are from my old cabinet.  You can see the top of the passive radiator.

I was able to solder caps via the woofer hole.

For me, the base and passive was easy and quick to remove and worth the few extra minutes of time to have the additional access and space to work on the caps.  Now I can't wait to do it all again with the new woofer upgrade!

You do have to take off the passives AND the lower bass woofer to do it.

Once you glue in the caps, it is very easy to solder them in place.

I only have one done, as there is conflicting info on the second set of caps and I'm not sure which way is "positive" on them.

I'm awaiting word from BC.

The base and passives were very easy to take off this time, because I had broken the seal on them a week ago.

I have the black oak color and it is regular oak that they paint.  The basses were literally painted on...

Did you vitrify the PR's while you were in there?  If not, I highly recommend doing it....
