B,Which Grand Wega, the KDF-60XBR950? The DVI-D input indeed should be HDCP-compliant; all of 2003's line was. It has to be DVI-D cables, though, not DVI-A or anything weird like that. I'm sure you''ve already done all this and are screaming "yes, I know, DVI..." but I had to ask. My Explorer 8000HD has DVI out, not HDMI (although I have an RGB projector so I use component and a transcoder). Sometimes HDMI conversion cables screw with the security issues and the pj can't recognize; I'd just go DVI-to-DVI.Ted
If you send the HDMI input a DVI cable, will it work (aren't they compatible...dunno myself)? What a load of crap........Ted

I have been told that the DVI -> HDMI cable is straight through, and non-directional. So if you can send HDMI the other way, you should be able to send it to the TV. I am trying to hit the service menu on the cable box right now. My lame cable company won't let me get a cable card. Plus they got me hooked on this DVR. .
is that the new DVR box that records HDTV as well as SDTV? Did they actually turn on the DVI output? When they first released the boxes, the component cables were the only outputs that worked... even the composite and S video were non-functional.
B,So my suggestion was to find a DVI-DVI cable, and get rid of the HDMI handshake. Your TV's HDMI jack should accept a DVI cable. Then you may need to reboot the Explorer. Although I only use component, it wouldn't accept my hidef component setup during Explorer setup until I rebooted (it was set for a different component synch or whatever).Ted
Yes. Although it sounds like the same solution, some HDMI-to-DVI cables don't do the handshake correctly. If you try an adapter, it may work. Try pccables.com. Also, does your friend who has a working DVI out on his Explorer use the same cable provider? I know mine hasn't activated the DVI outs yet.Ted
