I have a Denon 2910 DVD player and I have a 75 ohm interconnect from it to the coax digital audio input DVD connection on my SP 1.7. Whenever I play a disc the readout says the audio source is analog. I can't figure out what I need to do. Do I have to specifically assign an input to my DVD, anything else I need to think about? Thanks for any help, Kevin
Check whether your connections are solild. I have the previous models (i.e. Denon 2900, and SP1, using an AudioQuest VSD-1 0.5m cable), and had a similar problem. All I got was analog even though the DVD player said it was outputting digital. I played around with the audio setting of the DVD player and the setting of the SP, to no avail. I even disconnected the analog cables which got no sound at all (red led on the digital front panel).
Well, I then put on my headlamp from REI so I could see behind my rack, and fiddled with the digital cable, and when fiddling with the connection to the DVD player, I heard the click of the relay and digital sound, on and off as I wiggled the cable. I then disconnected and reconnected the connector to my DVD player and now it passes the signal just fine. So, make sure things your connections are solid, not sure why it was not connected well. The 'high-end' cables tend to have more solid connectors so they take a little more to get fully seated.
