...Colors are really depressing, though. A truly beige nightmare there...
Mike Lavigne's house is not far from where I live. He invited me over to hear his old system - maybe I'll ask for an invite to hear his new one.
Can you imagine, no neigbours, turn it up as loud as you want.
I'm with Ravi on this one. I love that room and have looked at it before. When I saw the picture, I recognized it immediately. Very cool looking room and amazing system. I suspect it sounds pretty good. This guy spared no expense. I wonder if he has the ability to do in room measurements? J
that's certainly a nice room, but not what i'd do, if i had the means... first, i agree w/the negative aspects about the solitude of it all. second, i wouldn't want any hard surfaces behind the 1st reflection point of the speakers. in this room, there's a hard floor, windows, & that bowed wall. i'd want all that covered. if i were gonna have any hard surfaces, it would be *behind* me. third, i would not want my equipment basically out in front of one speaker like that. in this case, there is so much ...
I love all the criticism coming from people who have never met Mike or heard the room. Seeing some of the rooms here on this board, I'm especially astounded by the negative reaction.
He's a great guy, and has a love for this hobby.
His room was designed by one of the best in the industry. Would be hard to pick holes in the design unless you have some serious acoustic credentials. Seriously, give it up guys.
He buys as I recall like 20-30 cds a week, and his music collections dwarfs ANYBODY's on this board.
I bet that every person who has commented about this looking like a "lonely" room doesn't have kids. I would LOVE to have a room that I could lock myself in and just listen to music for a couple of hours at some volume other than "low".
