can you sub take XLR ? XLR by design has double the voltage of RCA.

I know our line out has industry standard gain (2V?) so did you get your sub from a system and might have designed for its preamp/sub output.

How is the rest of your setup?  Are you going to the sub and from the sub out to an amplifier?  Are you using the RCAs for the SUB and the Balanced to the AMP?

Did you connect both RCAs?  Your subwoofer can take either one RCA carrying a LFE signal (created by an AV receiver, for example) or a full range RCA be connecting both RCAs.

You need to use both on your case, as the DAC-9 is not generating an LFE.

If you could elaborate more on your setup, it would be a bit easier.
