Lirender,
I was sorely tempted, too, until I received the same dire warnings about Acoustic visions as fill this thread.

I decided to wait for the following reasons: the ICE technology is spreading, and Tripath now has a chip set named Godzilla :P  that has very similar specs--in other words, the 50 to 100W limits are gone, and unless I miss my guess the next 6 months will bring us many interesting higher powered choices at very attractive prices from a number of companies.

Waiting for the news from CES what some of these might be!

if gobs of power is a requirement/issue, may I know why has there been little mention of PSAudio's GCMC Amp? or are they priced out of the discussion?

Can only answer that  for myself with a resounding yes!! One can argue whether their (Flying Mole, PS Audio) relative value makes them worth it. My own hope is that the days of the multikilobuck amp are over and we should never have to pay more than say 35 cents a watt for good sounding and reliable amps. Likely dreaming for now, but if one can get the tripath developers board for $300 for about 200 stereo wpc (sans supply), the actual chip sets selling for a small fraction of that, and with less need for big heatsinks and the like, prices should come tumbling down!  8)

Thanks for all the input. I think I will have to be first in line to get the new $215 JVC Digital amp http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=15838 which will have USB. I am running ape/WMA lossless from my PC to an ART DIO. The USB link should reduce/eliminate jitter as buffering and correction are build in. Should be amazing.

You can't really go wrong on the JVC.  A friend just got an older version and he is very happy with it.  I am thinking of getting one for my tv room when I move to a new place in March.

I am running Apple Lossless from my PC to a wireless laptop with an external USB soundcard (a cheap one from CompUSA) and run a glass toslink to my Panny XR50. The sound is not the same as from my player with a Acoustic Zen coax to my XR50.  I think, still things, can go wrong in the USB to digital conversion, in my case, outside, but may probably happen with the JVC internally. I am thinking of getting a Behringer SRC2496 just for the purpose of reducing jitter.

I think it's very tempting on a price basis, and you just factor in the risk of any service problems/dealing with a difficult person. Just as you factor in shipping and service concerns when buying from norh.

...or buying used products like the majority of people do here that are out of warranty, or fall into that lovely practice of only providing warranty to original owner that so many adopt?

Just enjoying the group dynamic.

Did anyone ever buy the EAR 202? Any feedback on how it sounds? The new JVC RX-202B  is available for preorder now for only $180 (http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=4026165 ). Check out soundboy's thread http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=17441&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 .
