Have you ever sold a piece of equipment and regretted it later, whether right away or even years later?

I regret having sold my Sony TAP9000ES.  It was such the funtional integrater and not a bad pre, especially for HT use.  It had mod potential and a great case.  I sold it for cash for only a $25 loss but these cannot be had anywhere near the range I bought and sold it for two years ago.

Not to hijack the thread but on Josh's note:  Why haven't we seen more high end, tube based multi-channel pre's?  Is it the bass management thing?  My current dvd player has built in dolby 5 channel output as do most SACD players.  A decent 5 channel pre under $2500 from the likes of Audible Illusions, Cary etc. would sell well I would think.  Of course a company like AI would have to give up a few design philosophies to get it to work (Dealing with 5 separate volume controls would be a pain).

I haven't sold anything I've regretted yet since I tend to be a pack rat however I have missed or passed up a few things that I've kicked myself for later.

I regret selling my marble 9.0s.  Sure my system sounds a lot better now than when they were in it, but they were by far the most gorgeous speakers I have ever seen. More of a vanity reason, but so what? If I ever had some extra $$$$ (I'm talking lots of extra cash) I would buy a 9.0 based surround sound system.

Great speaker, IMO better looking than sounding (Not that they sound bad) :)

I sold my TT & vinyl in the early 80's, the TT was no big deal
but wish I kept the 2000+ LP's.

I had ESL-63s with a Beard 35W EL34 based amp and it was just wonderful. I sold them in an attempt at upgrading and have not been able to get the same magic back.

I also gave away all my vinyl when I moved from Uk to US in 1996 and sold my Oracle Alexandria cheaply too!

I tried to make a pair of Decware radial RL-2's by buying the drivers and building them into concrete tubes. It didn't work. There was a horrible spike at around 1khz that was unbearable. Other than that, they were fantastic speakers in every way.
Although they did fund the purchase of my CD player, I should've hung onto them and bought the Decware cabinets and rebuilt them. I will buy them again one of these days. I would like to keep the setup I have now with the 626 Neos aswell though :D

Well, not anything I've sold, but I did give away a pair of nOrh 5.2's and a pair of 3.0's to friends that I wouldn't mind having back to do a surround setup in my bathroom.

Funny thing is, I don't regret selling any components.

I have several here for sale that I fully regret buying 100%.  I suppose that's for another topic. . .

On a more serious note, I didn't sell it, but had to send back the Erleuchtung preamp because of RFI problems with my current location.  I really miss it, it was a wonderfully musical pre.

What pre are you using now?  Seems like the Bent is the pre to try!  And, best of all, no worries about power quality!

I have an AVA Transcendance 7 on the way.  I tried the Bent, didn't like it all that much, it just wasn't to my taste.

Regret Selling...

Hmmm....

About 3-4 years ago. My Spectral Preamp and Amp. That was darn good listening. But....there are so MANY great things out there that I can't regret selling something more than I can regret buying something.  8)

Cheers,
Bill
