Michael, that's why I aim low (don't chase the latest high priced technology) when it comes to DAC's. When buying DAC's try to get as much or more use/enjoyment out of it as it depreciates and consider yourself satisfied.
Guys,Don't you think it's time to split this thread into two?Don't get me wrong. I'm keenly interested in both DACs, and I want to learn more about each one, but it would be much better if the MP-D2 conversation took place in its own thread, no?I'm not the facilitator here - just another poster.Michael
Audiogd just announced an r2r dac for only 600... Looks good too. http://www.audio-gd.com/Master/Singularity19/Singularity%2019EN.htm
Their translation software is horrible.
Yeah, but the gear sure is beautiful on the inside.
Input knob Tom.
+1Still trying to figure this one out. Is that a big volume knob on the front? Remote?
Just got mine today. I believe its the bypassable volume control. I'm bypassing it to a Tortuga LDR pre. The silver button to the left of the little LEDs is the input selector.
We're waitiiiiiing...
I've actually circled back to the factory supplied 6H6 tubes and now appreciate how good they really are. The "little brother" to the 6H30 that is popular with ARC and BAT amongst others. In fact I tried the same 6H30 tubes that ARC uses in their preamps and thought they were horrible. Of the dozen or so sets of input tubes I have tried the 6H30's were the worst. Shrill and thin with emphasis on the two frequency extremes at the expense of the mid-range. Interested to see what you think about your replacements.
