Danny, in the above statement, do you mean 'was' or 'is'? I hope this was just a grammatical slip and not a concern that the T26SG is also on the extinct list?
Sorry, it IS a favorite of mine.
Another question on the T26SG tweeter if you don't mind. When I got to hear the XLS Encores, I remember the feeling that the tweeter was quite a bit more forward in presentation than the classic tweeter; more revealing, but also more forward. This was if I remember correctly an AV123 cabinet with the stock crossover. Would a parts upgrade in the crossover (cap and resistor or is there an inductor on the tweeter circuit too?) from the stock parts mellow it out a little bit in comparison to the classic tweeter or is that just a nuance of character for the T26SG?
That's odd. I never felt the presentation was forward in any way. It might have been the result of the gear and or room you heard it in.
And I can make it sound any way that you want really.
I've thought on upgrading the parts in the XLS classics I have sometime in the future, but have hesitated thinking about this. I also couldn't tell you if the speaker I heard was fresh out of the box or had been burned in for a while.
Burning them in for a while will soften the presentation a bit.
It is hard to say what caused them to sound that way to you, but that is not their normal character. I do not like a forward presentation.
