Given 20 sq.m and overall basic understanding i would target to mini T as they are seems to be superior to Mini A.

Thanks

Hi

Yes the MIni T is much more capable of greater output and lower frequency response than the Mini A.  The Middle T is really a Mini T with the extra woofer so it can handle more power in the lower frequencies. The Middle T does not go lower in frequency than the Mini T.

One of the mistakes I think some make is that bigger is better - but if the larger speaker pressurizes the  room excessively they can sound dull and lifeless due to sever standing wave issues. Sometimes a smaller speaker in that same room will sound much better because it is not exciting all the room nodes.

Remember that when you listen to a speaker you are not listening to the direct on axis frequency response of the speaker you are listening to the overall 'Sound Power' of 'that' speaker in 'that' room!

At the risk of sounding like a dick. (Looking at the pic above) That space you are using is not good for audio. It's too narrow and you are using big SS. I would look at headphones. But if you are determined the first thing I would do is get rid of the stand. It's a good one but it's sits right in the middle and it's too high.  I would put the Torus and amp on the floor. Find a low table or shelf (or even) put the pre amp on the floor. It's clears the the little room you have for a sound stage.

Now thinking about the complaint in your post, It really only looks like you got room for one speaker there. What does the other side look?  Where you are standing to take the pic. You might want to put the other speaker there and sit in the middle. I guess good advice here is don't get get caught up in an orthodox speaker set up. You do not have to use them both in front for a sweet spot.

You got excellent gear but you need to get them out of the middle raised up. IMO high stands (like what you got) should be used for shelving in another room or off to the side maybe behind.

You probably have the best speakers for that room.  :thumb:

Another thing you might try  :D. I notice you are using treatments. (imho) there is a direct correlation between room treatments and the internal dampening of speakers. So what I see is a heavily treated rear wall using heavy internally damped PMC speakers. Since the treatments are already up go into your PMCs and pull out all the internal stuffing. Start with all of it. Do not listen too loud but figure the best internal dampening amount by putting more back in as you go. This will help with the intensity or tension in the soundstage..lightens it up. Makes it sound more floaty ....lol.

The below quote is silly and only leads to (if you are lucky) parallel moves compared to the BP 26. The BP26's power supply is overkill and its outboard. Great for the volume control.  :thumb: The volume control on that pre amp is excellent for dialing in good precise volumes. You do not want to get rid of that.

"I was told by experienced audipophiles that Bryston is very transparent as well as PMC. It doesnt mean analytical or cold, but direct (what "in", that "out"). I was advised to have some colored component on the path like tube pre amp, multibit DAC or less resolutive/more forgiving speakers".

Its not a room its just a right hand side of the room and it takes 1/5 of the room. Im in reconstruction process so all in one room at the moment.

Im scewed to get small speakers like a tmporary solution. Looking at proac tablets. Hope they will be able to breath and build stereo image

Seems i have fixed the situation a little by turning PMCs parallel to each other. It gives more relaxed HFs and better stereo image.

Another idea is to try another speaker cable which will give more relaxed sound. Now i have Furutech alfa s25. The sound is a bit compressed. Not sure if another speaker cable can help. Not a big believer in 1k+ speaker cable.

Also i was advised to try tube preamp (manley shrimp, copland cta 305) which will soften/distort the sound in HF.

FYI i tried to put Eximus dp-1 directly to 4bsst2 by using its digital preamp avoiding BP26 and it sucked tremendeusly. BP26 is incredible analouge preamp.

Ultimately i would like to soften PMC22 HF and make Midrange a little bit fullier. Whether Proacs should be considered?

Speaker spades or bananas are completely useless and they add a harsh (unrelaxed) sound to the mix. If you want it more relaxed take the spades or bananas off.

Before you buy speaker cable. Take the ones you got and take the connects off them. Run your speaker-wire bare into the 4B. Tighten the speaker connect at the amp then apply a bit of electrical tape to make sure it never comes loose. If I recall on 4B you do not need tape but you might need them on the PMCs. Use bare wire there too.

Voila more relaxed.

Also  (I got more) try the tape monitor input on your BP26. It's the best input on that preamp imo. It's a 10kohm input compared to the others at 50kohm. It's also the closet input to the volume control. It sounds the most relaxed.  8)

I got lots more haha.

It doesn't matter, the right wall and how you got your speakers mimics a small room.

Im using XLRs as it seems to be more prominent sound. Better imaging of instruments.

Overall after evening sessions today Im still thinking that PMC are precise and punch but its is not what is valuable in jazz trios, pianos... im not listenin rock, pop..

Definitely do not do that.

Put your amp in the middle and put the Torus off to the side as far as your power cables allow into the amp. Try and keep those two away from each other.  They might have to still be close but do not stack them.
Try not to stack anything if you can help it.  You will just end up with thermal compression.  That gear is meant to have air flow.

What Torus is that? I own the rm 20.

I like your hardwoods.  :thumb:

I know what you mean I owned the LB1s. Their fullrange models are better. Those PMCs you have are going to be better than a lot of speakers. I would make those work until you are settled and can put everything back and buy some fullrange.

I know what you hear though. This is completely open to tailoring-it-up to what you want to hear.  Bryston amp input stages really like litz wire in signal. Find some good XLR that use Litz like from TWL  or Wywires. Is that Cardas series LitzWire you are using? Also TWLs 12 gauge works real nice in amps and preamps. This will help lose the wash of treble that  sweeps across the whole soundstage. Do not be afraid to put new fuses in the dac. What ever you buy just make sure the fuse case is copper. You probably have a .5 amp fast blow with a nickel cartridge. Thats garbage get rid of it.

Here is a really good tip and super cheap. Go down to home depot and buy about 2 feet of 12 gauge solid Romex house wire. Probably about $3. Open up the Torus and replace all the outlet wire.  The stuff in there is junk. Literally it is nickel with a wee bit of copper core. Take out all the outlets and re wire outlets with that solid core Romex.  Do as much wire as you can in the Torus. That will really move the sound away from that nickel treble sound back to copper. It's really easy to do but you have to take out all the outlets. Don't take out one at a time. Take Them all at. Then put them all back in re wired. It is easier.

Buy a Furutech GTX gold or Rhodium outlet. Go gold and replace an out let in the torus with that. You will be thanking me I promise.

Also  :icon_lol:... I'm Talkative today. Isn't that solid tech stand a modular? Can't you break it down to small ones. I think you can. There is your stands for your amps...etc.  :thumb:

Werd, a lot if diy recommendations to the moment. Im not a lot familiar with that honestly...

I have harmonic texhnology pro silway mk III+ dac to pre (copper and silver) and Saec XR-4000 from pre to amp. Also i have Saec Sl-5000 and Acrotech 8N rca as RCA alternative to above XLRs. I dont hear the difference among RCAs but as I told i hear XLR vs RCA. XLRs more promininet and "obvious sound". RCAs from dac to pre are more flat.

I have some Ikea furniture  and would probably replace the Solid tech stand with that according to you recomendations to get more space and air between PMCs.

Also i will borrow western electric 50s monocrystal as a speaker cable and after that probably Neotech NES-3001 as an alternative to my furutech alfa s25 speaker cable. Lets see..

What you can try and will help with the sweet spot. If you run your speakers parallel with that side wall that wall will be problematic all the way down. So if you move the gear back closer to the wall. Bring your speakers further up. Then slightly turn the speakers to face to the left (into the center of the room). Every inch your turn the speakers away from the side wall it adds about a foot of distance away from the wall at the sweet spot and the side wall becomes less in the way. You have to remember that the right speaker will also need to be closer to you everytime you shift your speakers to the left. You want to keep a triangle between left/right speaker and the listener and not have one speaker closer. These are really small adjustments that will help big time.

Hope that helps
