Okay guys, The shipment in ON THE WAY!!

According to the FedEx site, the four boxes should arrive sometime tomorrow the 3rd.

Make sure you give everything a good warm-up for a couple of days before you do any serious comparisons.

Let me know when you get everything and what you think of it all.

Cheers,

Wayne

How early or late is this going to start on Friday?

I can't make it if it's on either side of the spectrum. . .

I hope I can make it!

W/ traffic, etc., I wouldn't get out there until past 7 (I think). . . and I NEED to go out Friday, hopefully early. . .  :P

BTW, would anyone be willing to perform a quick and easy soldering job for me while there????????  Just a sub, to the x-over and to the speaker. . . 4 joints total?????

Again, IF I come, I will bring my SN TubeDac+ again for those interested.

Oh, I need directions again. . .

BTW, thanks for reminding me of my stupidity, Scott.

Thanks!!!!!

Count me in Steve.  I won't be cruising in until 7pm or so with the drive from the east coast (of the river).  I'll need directions.  Sounds like there will be plenty o' gear to listen to--just to add in the mix, I can bring my ipod and PB/Airport express for some digital/wireless comparison for those who might be interested in hearing what's out there.  I know that too much gear tends to muck up the evening--we can save it for another time as well.

Cheers,
Brad

Paul, sorry, didn't mean to open an old wound.

If Steve warms up his soldering iron, I'd be happy to solder up your sub for you. Hey Steve, have you got some solder or should I bring some?

Paul, please, be sure to come. Our get togethers are tons of fun. We aren't overly analytical when it comes to the different gear we listen to, we don't (usually) start throwing around audiophile terms or get too hard core. We just sit back, slam a few brews, eat some munchies, and listen to some great tunes on quality gear.

Oh, be sure to bring some 'different' music. Thats one thing that we always do is turn each other onto some new tunes.

The more I think about it, the more I will likely come. . .

BTW, I think I'll be giving Deadfish an in home audition of my TubeDac Thursday after work . . . he's on my way home, which makes it nice and convenient.

BTW Scott, I've been to Steve's for 1 GAS meeting and had a great time. . .

HEY!!! My TubeDac is for sale (not b/c I don't like it. . .ONLY b/c I NEED my sub back in action. . .)  For now, I'm thinking of going the cheapy, good-sounding digital amp/receiver route just for this purpose.  I can't afford to do a full-on-upgrade on its own. . . .real life sucks w/ student loan bills, rent, credit card bills, etc., etc., ETC.,!!!!!!!!   :x

I could even bring my Bolder M-80 speaker cables if anyone is interested.

From what I've heard about the quality of some of the digital units, I actually shoul be pretty happy.  I figure I'll go this route for ~ 1 year until I get a raise. . . . . . or get a sugar-momma.  I just REALLY want my sub in action. . .I miss the low-down goodness of my VMPS Smaller Sub.

SOOOOO, I'm saying this now (hoping time-wise it works out), I'll see you all friday!!!  :thumb:

p

P.S.  Anyone other than Deadfish interested in the DAC?  :D

Good, good, good. More people = more fun and cars = people.   Got that class??  :o I have food, beer, solder and solder iron. The JJAZ amps are due in tomorrow, I'll keep them warm the rest of the week and the AKSA 100 is well broken in already and sounding sweet. Scott is kind enough to bring his AKSA 55 and an active crossover so we can try all the variations of biamping the Maggies that we can think of--AKSA/VTL, AKSA/AKSA, JJAZ stereo/JJAZ monoblocks, VTL/JJAZ, JJAZ/AKSA  and that's just bass/ mid-tweeter then there's the other way around. Let's see, how many combinations is that? -anyone dizzy yet?

I'll PM you guys with directions. Anyone else needing directions, PM me. Should be fun.

It looks like I might get out to play for a few hours on Friday. Is there any gear you guys might want me to bring along? ( check systems for equipment details) sorry the Avalons will remain at home. Steve could you pm me with your address and let me know if you want me to bring along any food or refreshments.

I was supposed to meet at Deadfish's tonight to let him hear my SN TubeDac. . . I forgot about a poker game I've got tonight.

Anyways, as far as I can tell now, I will be there tomorrow, hopefully around 6:30 or so.

Steve

If I don't show tomorrow, its because I am loading the bus with my honor band kids at 5:30 AM to head for Carbondale all day and into the night.  Otherwise, I'll be there around 6:30.

Welcome, Eastside!  You will really enjoy our group of friends.  My friends around here refer to the GAS as a "support group" for other sickos with stereos that cost as much as a car.

We all have issues.

here's the funny part: Yeah, my car.  My wife's is worth less than my speakers cables!!   :thankyou:

I gauged the cost of her engagement ring by deciding, "I love her at least as much as my system.  Therefore, her ring should cost as much as the list price of at least one of my components."   :thankyou:

When you meet her someday, you can look at her ring and know, That little piece of metal and diamond could be converted into a top of the line CD player, a really nice preamp, a pair of speakers, a pair of mono tube amps, a full stereo's worth of high end cables, or room treatments-power conditioning-and a good turntable.  Wow.  Why the hell would she have wanted a ring instead of one of those components?  Maybe she just didn't know she had that option.  Or maybe she just didn't think a pair of mono amps would be as stylish with her wedding dress.

What would Rodney Dangerfield do?
