Does this unit have a removable PC?  Cannot tell from the .pdf of the owners' manual.

If not, is it simply soldering surgery?

I would read through the 50+ pages on these units here, but at work...?

No removable power chord. If you want that....its DIY...or maybe Wayne (does nice work)....hey, try his binding post adaptor's(spring clips on JVC)....they work great!!! :)

Yup, it's really simple to DIY.  The existing cord just unplugs.  Then solder the new cord onto the remaining two pins.

Yeah, Wayne is installing an IEC on my Teac, but I am trying to learn the basics...

IF I love this thing, then I will likely pony up for his work, I have had several pieces successfully modded by him for me.

Thanks for the tip ooheadsoo, I will check it out, when it arrives.

Well, the downside is that I didn't hear any improvment :P  Maybe my cord wasn't "high quality" enough ;)

Well, that begs the question - what did you use?  I have a section of Belden 83802 and some cryo'd Hubbel hospital grade parts to build it out with.

I intend to use a section of this with my modded Teac, when it returns, and will have some extra, so I thought it might be pressed into service for the JVC, when it arrives.

No audiophile cord for me :P  I used a hospital grade cord made by Quail.  14 ga., foil shielded, a ferrite choke on each end, terminated in a green dot certified plug.
