All,

I have an older Denon AU-250 SUT. A couple years ago, after a move, the unit stopped working. I didn't have a chance to look at it closely. But i did check all the wring points for connectivity, and that was not the issue.

I kinda though the transformers themselves were built for life. Is there any way of checking the them with some home (non specialized) tools?

The problem with a transformer is there isn't a whole lot that can be checked.  Take an ohm meter and check continuity between + and - on the same jack, check all 4 jacks. That's about it.

Transformers are passive devices. It's really nothing but two coils with iron cores, for each channel.  After a move something must be messed up inside?

Can you open it?

yeah,
I opened it. checked all the connections and the continuity. Seemed ok. But no sound...

...so just dropped a bundle on a Cinemag Step-up.
