Hi guys,
I'm just wondering if any of you guys have try the matchup Aragon Amps - Maggies and can give some opinions based on this matchup?

400 watts to 4ohms high current should be enough to drive the 1.7 Maggies?

I used to use an old pre-Klipsch 8008 with a pair of MMGs, did great. Still using the amp today. Don't know anything about the new ones, except that they are double the price of the old.

That's plenty of power but I've never heard them so can't comment on the sound quality.

aragon has a ton of power and current capability. i owned one for many years and loved it. Good for power hungry speakers and the best bass (150 and down) of any amp I've owned.

The first time I ever heard the 3.6s was on an Aragon amp at a Maggie dealer in Alpharetta, GA. Sounded really good to my ears.

Used the DIA-100 integrated with MMGs for a few months. Enough power for a small room. Treble was bit hard which DIA-100 is known for. But felt more power could do better, which was indeed the case, as found after moving to Emotiva XPA-2.

Thanks guys for your input. I find that Maggies already have a lot of treble so a "warm" sound amp will not make the high notes too harsh. I really want to try the Maggies with Aragon. For its price and its power I think it's a decent one.. Also the Aragon is Class A/B amp, according to Magnepan website it should work best...

Boy, for that kind of money to drive Maggies I sure would consider the AVA 600R...

For me the most natural and dynamic sound from Maggies was either the Audio Research DR250mk2 servo or older Conrad Johnson amp. Just cannot remember the model. When I do i will post it. Next up was a hybrid class "D" amp with Reflector 6H30 input tubes offering 40 amps of current and a tubed preamp.
If you Bi-amp the Maggies the Arragon is a great bass amp. A Hi-Fi sound on top. If you insist on the Arragon gat a lush sounding tubed preamp.
