Keep it simple (KISS).....

Ok...Here's my ideas

Don't look back at the past, this is a totally new venture with a couple of legends at the helm....

DR Audio
DR Audio Specialties
RD Audio
RD Audio Specialties
R&D Audio
R&D Audio Specialties

"R&D" could be construed as  Richie & Dodd or "research & development"  both are appropriate.

"Specialties" Would mean non main stream, as in battery powered, or chip amp.

A couple of my thoughts about the offering:

When I think of "chip" amps, I think "Cheap & Cheerful" not high end audiophile gear. I really like playing with chip amps because they are so CHEAP, and sound great, not something I would spend much for though.

If the amps/preamps are offered as primarily battery powered, it may limit the audience. Not everybody is ready to deal with batteries. Offer either the battery or a DC PS as equal, with the battery power as a recommended "best" choice, but not necessary for great sound.

A USB only DAC also limits the audience. It might be best to rethink that.

Stay with the unique Dodd style chassis/cases. They are unequaled for looks.

Just my thoughts....

The younger generation who would spend $1000 on a piece of equipment, expect a certain (ie high) level of refinement, even if Beats headphones are what got them started.

I agree. Design and presentation should be key (besides the sound of course). The iPod generation has already been sold on that. It if doesn't look good, it might be a hard sell.

My suggestion 12V Audio.

After being in the car audio for years, I do not believe that 12V audio is a great idea.

It is way to connected to car audio. The entire business is call '12V audio'. There would be a lot of confusion.

I like 'Off the Grid'.

I agree.  I would do DC Audio before I did 12V audio.

Actually, would it not be cool if the new products were actually used in car audio. That would be a whole new market to target!!

Hi all,
DC Audio is a good name because it's simple and tell what the product is.  :thumb:
12V Audio could be misleading if Gary decide to have a 24V power supply.

I just tossed out 12V Audio without thinking much about it. But hearing the opposition to it I now like it even more. It is clearly doing what a name should do...generating discussion and immediate recognition that battery power is involved and will attract a whole crowd of audio enthusiasts to take a look. Some may buy for their home and use and some may re-purpose for auto use. There is nothing that says btw that just because your name says 12V that you cannot use 24V!

DC Audio is too generic.

Hi all,
How about: Battery Audio !
That sounds cheap...
Sounds like something that works on double A batteries.
Do you think so ?

Or, a little humorous play on the names - Danny Richie and Gary Dodd:

Rich-Dodd (Poor-Dodd)

Close Tyson, you almost got it. But I'd go the other way:

DoddRich!

Now there's a name that will put Gary on easy street. :thumb:

I like the Off the Grid idea, great for a couple of OGs like you and Gary.
(Original Gangsta?  Old guy?)

I was wondering if somebody was thinking like me... :D

OG Audio

-Off Grid

-Original Gangsta, Gary' been in this game a while so he's definitely an OG.

-an Original Gary idea, patent, tech.......

Appeals to young people and reduces energy consumption which today's youth are getting into more and more.

"How about O.T.G. (Off the Grid)?"

That's what first came to my mind... 'Off The Grid Audio'

'DC Audio' isn't too bad either ...to the point and easy to remember.

So I've been silently lurking for the last two years kind of embarrassed because I haven't been able to do my speaker build.  (Ran into a stumbling block and then the garage got full and ... yadda yadda)  so guess I'm coming out of lurkkerdum

I really like some of the names so far.  In particular and no particular order:

Off the Grid Audio

#### audio (I like Texas Audio)

Current Audio

Here's my 2¢

Innovate Valves is Power (IV=P)  (perhaps too clever by 1/2?)  I hope you will do a DIY version with a chassis, box of parts, circuit diagram  an set of instructions.  The chassis would ensure the Dodd look of these amps (product recognition + a little extra personal pride).

Next, Grateful Dodd Music  8)   (OK or Grateful Dodd Audio; Grateful Dodd Amps)
G. D. Research   8)  (or Dodd Research)
