D-n-R

DNR

Actually the opposite of the intended meaning or feeling.  DNR is most widely recognized as

"Do NOT Resuscitate"   ;)

I like the GRiD Audio.  With the "i" in the middle, it really doesn't have any Apple or iDevice connotation like it would when the "i" is the first letter.

-  It's an amalgamation of GR Research and Dodd Audio and the "i" delineates them

-  It can speak to "off the grid"

-  It can relate to many of the components which will have tubes (with grids)

-  It's not juvenile, cutesy, contrived or hokey

A well constructed introductory paragraph on the website can interestingly explain the name origin and the brand's vision and purpose.

I understand the appeal in the visual separation the lower case "i" in GRiD creates as well as some other points, but just the whole use of the lower case "i" for electronics and accessories has become so overused, it's really cheezy and unoriginal.

I kind of like Salis' idea of GriD, with the "G" and "D" in caps, to represent Gary Dodd's initials. It looks good visually. It's clean. Simple. It still has the lower case "i" but is also accompanied by the "r" which breaks the whole "i" device connotation.

GD can be used as a nice little badge too.

I don't know if it has brought up yet or not but any name chosen has to be unique and not already trademarked. Finding a name that is not already in use is harder than it may seem.
