Acoustic Zen Hologram II (single-wire) with Empirical Audio Gecko jumpers.  Used to bi-wire with the Hologram II's low and Audience Au24 high, but found that I like single-wiring better (better overall coherence, weight and speed; perhaps missing some "air").  Have found the Geckos to be slightly more open than Cardas copper jumpers, as well as having richer-sounding highs...

What: Acoustic Zen Hologram II bi-wire

Why: Because they are big, fat and look cool when the light hits them

Oh yeah the sound. I cannot comment because the day the cable arrived I sold my speakers.

TG Audio HSR speaker cable + Argent Audio Pursang jumpers.

Out of the large amount of cables I have tried, the TG Audio have been the most musically pleasing.

After reading the speaker wire round-up in the Absolute Sound, I have been using Home Depot outdoor extention cord.

I read this too and used 12 guage stranded Radio Shack copper wire for some time. I then upgraded to DH Labs Q-10 speaker cables (between my Bryston 3BSST and ACI Sapphires) and the sound improved noticeably - sibilance almost completely eliminated (about 98%), better bass and more detail in the mids. I can honestly say that speaker wire DOES make a difference.

The following is quote from Michael Fremer concerning the death of Bud Fried:
Audio great Irving M. Fried passed away yesterday (March 31st). For those of us who attended hi-fi shows during the 1970s and 1980s, Fried's loudspeaker displays were always memorable. A no-nonsense kind of music lover/audiophile, Fried happily went against the latest trends, displaying a full line of loudspeakers in a single room, all connected with lamp cord to a multi-speaker switcher. Fried always got good sound in his rooms, despite the handicaps of having miles of lamp cord, a switcher and the line up of a dozen or so speakers on a wall. Music was the driving force in Mr. Fried's hardware passion, and he always had something worthwhile to play for us—always.

I think you folks have a lot to think about when it comes to speaker wire as does Michael Fremer.
