If you have never had to file a damage/loss claim "good for you".
For the rest of us that have followed all the proper channels and continue to get 'only' lip service, do we have any legal eagles on the forum with suggestions on whom to contact in an effort to get some action?  Would the local state attorneys office be headin' in the right direction

I'm a little upset,

If the amount is under $2500, go down to the county courthouse and for a small (normally $10 fee) file a small claims case against them.

They will normally settle with you after that!

If it is over $2500, contact a lawyer to see wht your options are.

I worked with FedEx once on a claim and it took me over a month to actually get in touch with a real person.

When I finally did, I was able to explain the whole situation.  He immediately said my claim was valid and that I should be paid upon his reviewing of the pictures etc.

So I sent him pictures with all the proper forms filled out(for the third time) and he sent me a check for $80 more than I was claiming.

I was happy about it in the end b/c he made up for my time lost and frustration.

Be persistent.  If that doesn't work, then follow the above mentioned procedures (small claims or lawyer perhaps).

Sorry things got messed up in transit.

Marbles, that's good advice.

This may be just personal opinion, but I will never do business with UPS again. I have had better experiences with both FedEx and DHL, including overseas shipments with the latter.

i am in *exactly* the same boat w/fedex presently.  i have awreddy sent them full photographic documention of my perfectly functioning tandberg 3001a tuner.  it was packed extremely well.  it was obviously dropped, as now nothing works.  but, there's no visible damage to the box or the exterior of the tuner - just no music & ~half the lights.  fedex has so far refused to offer more than half the value - they admit it's been damaged, but refuse to pay the full claim cuz they say no damage visible to the box or tuna exterior!?!  and, i have talked with real humans.

i am tempted to hire a lawyer & go after punitive damages - i am not happy with this, or repeated stories like this.  the shipping companies try to wear you out...    of course, there have been times they have honored claims i woulda never honored, cuz stuff was packed so badly; go figure...

and, val, if ya use dhl & fedex long enuff, you'll swear to never use *them* again, either!     then, whaddya gonna do?   :o

It is something I have learned reading your posts strangely UPS seems to offer very bad ground service but with my shipments to Mexico never had a problem.

Even more, I use sometimes UPS Ground to send boxes to a location in southern California and thank God no problem neither...

In my case, FROM INTERNATIONAL SHIPPINGS I have found that most of the damage is done not byfreight/shipping companies but by damn f***ing customs authorities, here the damn idiots unpack the product to check if everything is ok according papers/bill: "yes right you idiots it was right until you opened up the box..."

But if you got something damaged better raise a claim and make 'em pay whoever is responsible.

Good luck
