I worked with FedEx once on a claim and it took me over a month to actually get in touch with a real person.
When I finally did, I was able to explain the whole situation. He immediately said my claim was valid and that I should be paid upon his reviewing of the pictures etc.
So I sent him pictures with all the proper forms filled out(for the third time) and he sent me a check for $80 more than I was claiming.
I was happy about it in the end b/c he made up for my time lost and frustration....
i am in *exactly* the same boat w/fedex presently. i have awreddy sent them full photographic documention of my perfectly functioning tandberg 3001a tuner. it was packed extremely well. it was obviously dropped, as now nothing works. but, there's no visible damage to the box or the exterior of the tuner - just no music & ~half the lights. fedex has so far refused to offer more than half the value - they admit it's been damaged, but refuse to pay the full claim cuz they say no damage visible to the box or tuna exterior!?! and, i have talked with real humans.
i am tempted to hire a lawyer & go after punitive damages - i am not happy with this, or repeated stories like this. the shipping companies try to wear you out... of course, there have been times they have honored claims i woulda never honored, cuz stuff was packed so badly; go figure...
and, val, if ya use dhl & fedex long enuff, you'll swear to never use *them* again, either!

then, whaddya gonna do?
