The UPS guy showed up today with four very sturdy boxes from Denmark

I do have to say these are the BEST shipping cases I have EVER seen for amps. I will post a shot later.

Here is a quick photo of the Stainless Steel IP205KW.

Two channels @ 500 wpc into 4 ohms in a package not too much bigger than an album :!:

The amps only accept a balanced input. Johnny is sending some Cardas adaptors, but they have not arrivved yet. I quickly built a pair using Neutrik gold plated XLRs, Nitro solid core wire and Cardas RCAs.

Right now I have the amp running into my old Acoustic Reality 3Ds and subs.

I can say for less than an hour of playing, they are sounding VERY good.

These amps will be available for a quick audition tour after RMAF, if they aren't sold during the fest.

I was thinking of sending them to someone in each of the regional Circles. Hopefully there will be enough interest in these amps that each circle will have a good turnout for the audition.

If you are interested in listening to the amp, please drop me an e-mail or PM.

I will post pictures of the other amps as I slowly unpack them.

Chris,

The case seems to be of solid 'butcher' block  http://www.jjaz.dk/  !!! Click on amps and then on galleries at the bottom.  The rear view clearly shows the lamination in the grain :D .  Am I correct on this Wayne?

The cases are made from solid Padauk. They are not veneer over MDF.

They use the WBT Safety binding posts. It looks like it might be a bit tight for spade lugs to fit. I will be using banana connectors on
NITRO speaker cable at the show.

The amps do not come with power cables. I will be using NITRO PLUS power cables at the show.

The JJAZ have landed... in my rack that is. 8)

Wayne was kind enough to let me audition these until the RMAF next week.  I'll let them break in a bit more and see how they sound in comparison with my Odyssey Extreme Mono's.

I did get to hear these today and the sound was promising, the bass was very tight and they seem very transparent but were a little bright. They should improve with some additional time. I'll post some impressions once they have had a few more days of break in.

Hi Mike,

Which of the JJAZ amps did you borrow?

I've attached two pics of the packaged amplifiers, one of the IP205KW (the one in foam wrapping) and one of the extra IP105KW Padauk.

Please notice the MDF sides of the box and the really thick cardboard, along with the even thicker foam wrapping we use. The blue gift wrapping was just a one-off for the fun of it :-)

A few pictures from a danish exhibition where we made two special edition amps for the JBL K2 stand.

Johnny,

Wayne lent me the pair of IP105KW. They are very nice looking amps and look great in the rack. I can hardly wait to listen to them but alas will have to wait until tomorrow. My wife wants to see a movie and so it shall be. Not that I really mind as I'm most always up for a movie.

Thanks for sending these over to the states, I feel privileged to have the opportunity to listen to them in my home.

Gordy - you are correct, they cases are made from glued up blocks of solid hardwood. Some of the glue lines are visible on the sides but they look great from the top and front.

Thank you Mgalusha!  "Glued up blocks of hardwood"  hmmm, sounds like a perfect match for my rack...

Is this the amp that will be coming east to George/N.Y.?

Gordy,

I think so but I can't speak for Wayne. I'll post a picture of them in the rack tomorrow.

Uhmm.. Those are actually the pair of IP110KW Padauk, the 1.000W monoblocks. We only shipped Wayne one IP105KW Padauk for use as center channel at the show.

Your welcome, we too feel it as a priviledge that Wayne found us and want to show of our amps in the states.

About the glue lines. They are indeed visible, which is part of the design and comes from the way the amps are coated. The coating is an acid hardening coating (I believe that's the term) as opposed to normal clear coat. This is to avoid the microcracks that shows up very often in cases with standard clear coat.

Johnny - Wow, I didn't realize they were the 1KW version.  :o  :o

It still fairly early but so far they are sounding nice and seem effortless at any level. Of course with that much power on tap that's not suprising.

I am curious as to the input impedance. I didn't see it listed on the website or in the brochures. I use a tube linestage employing a 6SN7 gain stage with a cathode follower and no feedback, consequently the output impedance is not as low as other designs. The desiger suggests amplifiers with 10K or greater input impedance. They seem to be working well together but it would be nice to know the input impedance.

On additional question, do the amplifiers preserve phase or are they an inverting design?

Regards,

Mike Galusha

Hi Mike,

Oh, well.. There should be a label underneath the amps stating which version it is, they do look kinda similar

Effortless is definitely a keyword with those amps, and as you say it is to be expected with that much power available.
We did a little listening session on the JBL K2 yesterday with 3kW ICEpower. Cranking the volume never made them stressed in any way, but when it got loud enough you could actually see the lights dim on the exhib stand everytime the bass hits. Problem being that the mains supply in the exhibition stand is not stiff enough.

The input impedance is approximately 8kOhm over the audio bandwidth. Phase is preserved, so no worries there either.

Lonewolf,

Not to speak for Wayne but he does indeed have some of the FOD feet. He lent me 4 of them to experiement with. I havn't put them under anything yet but will do so soon. I think he gave Tyson a set to experiment with as well.

I put the FOD feet on my CD player, noticed immediately that the upper mids were less gritty.  Like them a lot better than what I was using before (Vibrapods).  For $15, way recommended.
