Tannoy DC2000 Concentric-Driver Speakers w Upgraded Xovers
Excellent shape sonically, though the cabinets are a little rough. I bought these from a friend of mine who did the crossover upgrade. The cabinets, btw, have some internal bracing, so they're fairly non-resonant--pretty impressive for no-frills cabinets.
If you've long wondered about the sound of concentric-driver Tannoys, these may be the ones for you. The midrange is big and clear, and the highs natural, and of course there's a seamless integration between the two. Imaging is excellent as you might expect. Alas, I think the speakers could use more amplifier wattage than I currently have. They're a sealed-box design, and even though the sensitivity is rated at 92 dB, the frequency response is rated down to 44 Hz and my battery-powered Tripath amp doesn't deliver the current to really drive these speakers.
